Few Days Off

With it being half term, and my other half being away for a few weeks, I took the opportunity to spend a bit of time with my brother Chris, his wife Sarah and my 2 little nephews Riley and Seth.

I have been guilty of not spending enough time with the babies.  Riley is now 2.5 years and Seth is 10 months.  As a baby Riley would rarely give anybody a hug and would cry if anybody else held him but it is so nice seeing him a bit more grown up and ready for hugs.  As an auntie it was wonderful giving him those hugs back and spending quality time with him.

For Christmas I had given him one of the Automoblox cars which he likes to pull apart and put back together again.  My sister in law’s brother also likes them and I have a pre-order from him for one of the new stock items which are due in at the beginning of March.

My other little nephew, Seth, is an original bouncing baby.  Full of baby fat he is lovely to snuggle up to and this morning he slept on me for 2.5 hours, giving his mum and dad a nice break and to enable them to spend time with Riley.  I will cherish that moment I spent with Seth as I doubt it will happen like that again.

For Christmas I had given him the Pound a Sound and, being a little lad who is into noise, this toy was perfect for him!!

For those of you reading this who may be aunties or uncles to young babies or toddlers, make more of an effort to spend time with your nieces/nephews.  They grow up so quick and if you don’t see them that often, time goes and before you know it, they are back at school again.

All my love goes to Seth and Riley and hope I get to see you again soon

Half Term

I’m not sure about other areas of the country but in Cambridgeshire, next week is going to be half term week.  It doesn’t seem to be that long since the children went back  to school after Christmas and the New Year break and yet again parents are going to have to find a way to occupy them.

Fink cards are a great way to get your children talking and joining in with family conversations.  These are a pack of 54 cards with thought provoking questions which are aimed at encouraging your children to open up.

Another great activity is Puzzibits which are aimed at children from the ages of 6 upwards.    Puzzibits Flexible 3D Puzzle Art is fantastically fun construction & puzzle play that’s art, for kids & kids at heart! Puzzibits promote problem-solving, pattern recognition, pre-math & fine motor skills.

Whatever you decide to do with the children this half term break, enjoy it.    Before you know it, it will be Easter!!
